About the event

The Aboriginal Tent Embassy was founded on Australia Day in 1972  by Indigenous activists – Michael Anderson, Billy Craigie, Bertie Williams and Tony Coorey  in 1995 it was listed on the Register of the National Estate as a site that represented the political struggle of all Indigenous Australians.

It provides both a platform and a shelter for discussion on preconceived ideas and stereotypes about Aboriginal people art and culture

Delivered by the awsome Black First Nations Creative.

11:05am - Yarn up Circle  and Q & A 

Guest Speakers Aunty Di , Aunty Anita and Aunty Robyn .  Join  together to explore our Guest Speakers’ personal history and connection to Aboriginal civil rights movements.                  

11:45  – 2pm - Poetry and Weaving Workshop 

An innovative  workshop where you  blend poetry with the art of weaving! Hosted by Brooke Scobie and our  Mingaletta Sisters Together this workshop is perfect for all ages Learn simple weaving techniques and see how the colours you choose can create your very own poem friendly space to explore creativity f-expression through the unique combination of words and weaving

12:30pm - Lunch: Roll up Roll up for the best sausage sizzle on the planet!

2.00pm - Strike The Tent (Hometime)
