Jonathon Grose

04_Bowerbird Blues_PBEAT2023 Highly Commended

The bower birds of Pearl Beach are a special depiction of nature and nurture in the local area. The vexed question, representing a conflict in the environment, is: How sustainable will it be for the male birds to continue to collect blue artificial and often plastic items to advertise the bower for his lady? The bower bird’s bower celebrates nature and nurture in Pearl Beach. This art installation is to allow visitors to Pearl Beach to be attracted to and walk through the bower.

Jonathon Grose had help from Hannah and Asher in completing this work. Jonathon is a Pearl Beach sculptor and garden designer. In 1995 Jonathon won 1st Prize in National Wood Sculpture Awards and he has also been a finalist in the Gosford Art Prize. jongdesign@bigpond.com
